We need to book 10 more spots for this trip to the wineries in Temecula on March 17th (Saint Patrick’s Day).  Encourage your friends to join us with a picnic lunch and experience tastings at three marvelous wineries, in addition to a tour through the Keyways vineyards and the Wiens cellar.  The day-trip lasts from 8:45-4:30 and costs $74. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Sherri Nussbaum at 949-636-0617 (sherrilynn@cox.net) or Lonnie Horn, 949-854-7470 (mail4lonnie@aol.com), by the end of next week (Friday, 2/25 by 4 PM).

  • The class Science and Technology in Plain English (SC 217)  has openings.  If you are interested, not yet enrolled, and would like to enroll in this class, please call the facilitator, Carroll Slemaker, at (949) 586-5673. The class begins on April 25. Details are on page 20 of your catalog.

  • The rescheduling of More Artists’ Books at UCI from the Fall semester has resulted in some vacancies in this very unique and popular class, which will be held at the Langston Library, room 570, from 5:30-7 PM on Wednesday, February 23rd.  These books constitute a new perceptual literature that is very inventive and boundary-stretching.  Please register with one of the facilitators, Deborah Silverstein (714-315-7140, sjsdns@verizon.net) or  Patty Carmichael  (949-644-8185, pattyc724@roadrunner.com).

  • Representatives of the organization Clean Energy America (CEA) will give a special presentation in the Woodbridge-Onken classroom from 1:30-3:30 PM this Thursday, February 17, to discuss the benefits and challenges of the use of nuclear energy. There is still space available and this event is open to all OLLI members. If you would like to attend, please notify George Hume at gahume@aol.com.

  1. I just had called and scheduled myself for class SC217, after being notified of openings via KIT. It came to mind, that when ones sends in his/her program request form, they may not be able to remember which classes they had asked to enroll. Upon confirmation via the mailed “Student Schedule’; programs that were desired might not be able to be recalled. I therefore ask that if possible, when sending out the approved student schedules, a notation be entered indicating the classes requested but not able to participate.

    • Jared,

Thank you for your suggestion on how to improve our registration process. We are in the process of implementing some changes to the technology behind the enrollment process, and will take your suggestion under consideration.
