Happy Holidays from OLLI!

We will be closed from December 22 through January 2, and will reopen at 9 AM on January 3, 2012 

  • Registration for the Spring semester begins on January 3, 2012. This year you can enroll online, as well as by phone or mail. You should have received by e-mail your student ID number, which you will need if you choose to enroll online. The Spring courses and special events are already on our website. You can view them at by clicking on Courses/Events on the top of the page, or you can click on Download Current Catalog to browse through the PDF version. Please note, however, that you will not be able to register until January 3.

Catalogs are being delivered by mail this week. If you do not receive yours before January 3, you can view the courses on our website and download and fill out an enrollment form. We will have catalogs in the OLLI office at 9 AM on Tuesday, January 3.

  • You are invited to our Spring Open House from 3:30-6 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2012. To RSVP, please reply to this e-mail. Friends are welcome!
  • Please note the following changes to the Spring 2012 catalog: AH 102, Romanticism in Full Bloom, will meet from 1-3 PM for session four (not 3-5 PM). The location and date remain the same. This time change is only for session four. SC 213, Computers, will meet from 10 AM – Noon (not 1-3 PM as listed in the catalog).
  • Travel Talk resumes on Saturday, January 14, at 9:30 AM in the Woodbridge Onken Classroom. Come hear Carol Coppage talk about her trip to Bhutan. BYOB (bring your own breakfast). No reservations required!
  • There is room available in Ethnic Foodways and Belonging in America, a talk by Humanities Dean Vicki Ruiz followed by a special luncheon, Wednesday, January 11, at the University Club. The talk is from 10 AM -12 noon and the lunch begins at 12:30 PM. $26 per person. Guests are welcome.  See page 31 of your Fall catalog for more information. You must  reserve your spot by calling 949-824-5414. Registration for this event is available now – call today to reserve your space.
  • At the request of OLLI members, Peg Maradudin, Rob Alen and Jonathan Weil will moderate a second Current Issues discussion class on Tuesday, January 17, in the Woodbridge Onken Classroom from 12:30 to 2:30. Topics for discussion will include New World Leaders for 2012, Political Impact of the Euro Crisis, Iraq Aftermath, America’s new Foreign Policy Initiatives in Asia, Presidential Primaries and Possibilities of a Third Party, and the Growing Higher Education Crisis in California. You are welcome to bring your own lunch. No reservations necessary.
  • Club OLLI, a new group organized to promote social activities, will be hosting a bridge group on Friday, January 6, at 12:30 PM in the Woodbridge Onken Classroom. An instructor will be provided. If you would like to attend, or if you have questions, contact Ann Melfi at Friends and guests are invited, and there is no fee. Other dates will be announced.
