  • For members who are already “hooked” on the Artist’s Book genre, or for those of you who have not yet been exposed to these unique literary gems,  AH 112 – UN COUP DE DE´S  JAMAIS N’ABOLIRA LE HASARD (A Throw of the Dice will Never Abolish Chance) has room for more enrolleesFrench is not required. This is the granddaddy of all Artists’ Books and many artist/authors have explored its possibilities in varied and unique ways.  We will see these up close and personal.   The class meets on Wednesday, March 14, from 5:30-7 PM at the UCI Langston Library, room 570.   • Black Performance and the Theater (a Fall class) has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, April 3, from 2-5 PM in the Woodbridge Onken classroom. There is space for new enrollees. This course will explore trans-racial and trans-cultural performance and the themes of racial expectation, uplift, the Black position (knowing “one’s place”), activism, (the futility of) resistance, revolution, and notions of hope and change.  The presenter is Jaye Austin Williams, a drama instructor at UCI and a playwright, director and actor prior to her re-entry into academia.
