SC 206 – Activities at the UCI Susan Samueli Center: Class presentation available.

The Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine at the UCI School of Medicine is an academic center focused on scientific research and education in complementary and alternative medicine. The center offers alternative treatments such as acupuncture, naturopathy, Chinese herbal medicine, and nutritional supplements, as well as a therapeutic lifestyle program and classes. Growing interest in complementary and alternative approaches for maintaining wellness, preventing disease and treating specific illnesses created a need for such a center to conduct rigorous scientific investigations of the physiological effects of these treatments.

Dr. Longhurst and his colleagues will present four lectures covering such topics as integrative medicine, acupuncture, mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), meditation, naturopathy and Tai Chi-Qigong. Specific class topics and speakers will be supplied via the OLLI Newsletter and KIT Mail prior to the beginning of the class.

Presenters:  Dr. John Longhurst, Director, and physician/research colleagues from the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine.
